    Doukhobor History to 1930

    Consider the following questions as you research:

    • Where did the Doukhobor peoples originate?
    • What does Doukhobor mean?
    • What did the Doukhobor people pride themselves on?
    • Where did they primarily settle in Canada?
    • What was their life like when first settling in Canada?

    You may wish to use a program like Inspiration to help organize your thoughts and record your information. Don't forget to keep a record of the reference information.

  2. Explore the collection of Doukhobor photos from the Multicultural Canada Collection that depicts settlement life. Choose a series of seven or more photos for your photo story. Browse through the photos and other digital images, or use key words to find particular photos and images that are appropriate for your photo story.

  3. Using Microsoft Photostory3 (PC) or iMovie (Mac) create a photo story using your selected photos. Add text and spoken audio, along with background music to tell the story of what settlement life was like for a newly emigrated Doukhobor.
  4. Using Audacity record a one-minute audio description of your photo story. Include, why you chose your particular images and how they tell the story of the life of an immigrant Doukhobor child now living in Canada.
