Process

  1. Create a del.icio.us account to store all the artifacts that you find important and interesting. Visit the Teacher page for help.
  2. Explore the Multicultural Canada collection. Browse or search through the various collections bookmarking artifacts of interest in your de.licio.us account as you go through them.

Consider the following questions as you work through the collections:

What is interesting about this artifact? What can I find in the collections that are not in English? Why is this artifact important? Why is this artifact interesting? What was happening in Canada at the time of the artifact? What is captured in the artifact? How are the artifacts similar? How are they different?

  3. Using power point or a similar software program create an overview of Multicultural Canada using various artifacts from the collection. The power point should include two to three samples from eight or more of the collections. The samples should be commented on either with text or oral recording stating what the artifact is, why you chose it and why it is important.
  4. Go through some of your own work from school or home. Determine artifacts that you feel are important to you. Digitize these and create the beginning of an electronic portfolio- a digital collection of your own work. Include why the artifacts you chose are important to you.
