Full text: JANUARY _ MARCH. 18S9 47 January, 1859 The monster Death has made his appearance in our community with the first day of the year and seized his victim. The Honorable William Rudolph departed this life at 4 O'clock this afternoon after an illness of a few days, in his 68th year. He was a member of the Legislative Council, and also held the office of Registrar of Deeds and Post Master. Mond. 3rd,—Last Thursday a young man by name Francis Shaffleberg left this town for his home, at the Blue Rocks, but being rather the worse of Liquor he missed his way; his body was found to day frozen. Thursd. 6th,—The remains of the late Mr. Wm. Rudolf were entombed to day. Monday, 17th,—Died this morning after a short illness, Elias Oxner, Merchant of this place, aged 39. Thursd. 20th,—Attended the remains of the late Elias M. Oxner to their resting place this afternoon. A large number of persons were at the funeral. February, 1859 Saturd. 5th,—Died this morning after an illness of a few days Mrs. Mary E. Frederick, widow of the late John Frederick, Aged 60 years. Sunday, 6th,—Chas. Burn, only son of widow Chas. Burn, who died three days ago, was buried this forenoon, and followed to the grave by the scholars of the St. John's Church Sunday School. Thursday, 8th,—Attended the funeral of the late Mrs. Mary E. Fred- erick this afternoon as a Pall Bearer. Saturday, 26th,—A meeting of the Conservative party was announced to take place at the Temperance Hall this evening, for the purpose of nominating three qualified persons to contest the ensuing election as Representatives for this County; a large number of the party attended, and the three following persons chosen unanimously as fit and proper persons to act in that capacity—Henry S. Jost, of this Town. Benjn. Zwicker,57 of Mahone Bay. Charles Lordly,58 of Chester. March, 1859 Tuesday, 1st,—The Snow lies deep; the roads almost impassable. The mails which were due here yesterday evening have not yet arrived.
