Full text: JANUARY-FEBRUARY, 1860 55 Thursday, 12th,—To day I was again voted in as County Treasurer; this is the commencement of the fourteenth year that I have served in that office. Thursday, 19th,—This evening I received intelligence from Halifax by Telegraph, that the Government had appointed me Registrar of Wills and Probate for this County. Friday, 27th,—This evening I received my Commission as the Registrar of the Court of Probate, dated the 18th inst, and signed by the Earl of Mul- grave, Lieut. Governor, and Charles Tupper, provincial Secretary. February, 1860 Wednesd. 1st,—We have suddenly jumped from summer into winter. Thermometer this morng. 12 below Zero. Thursd. 2nd,—This morning the Thermometer stood 10 below Zero. Wind N.W. Tuesday, 14th,—The packet "Lunenburg" has been endeavouring to get to the wharf, but has not succeeded; too much ice. Thursday, 16th,—This evening an Entertainment, consisting of "Tab- leaux les Vivants" or "living Pictures" accompanied with songs to suit, was given by some of the Ladies and Gentlemen of the town, at the Tem- perance Hall, the proceeds to be applied to the liquidation of the Church debt.
