Full text: JULY - SEPTEMBER, 1856 29 Monday, 28th,—In the evening an exhibition of a Magic Lantern in the Temperance Hall, by Genl. Gray38 of the Cold Water Army, for the benefit of Temperce. Hall. August, 1856 Sunday, 17th,—Married this evening between 8 & 9 O'clock, Elias Ox- ner to Miss Lucretia Oxner, by the Rev. H. L. Owen. Friday, 22d,—The crier of the Supreme Court, David Holland, who died on Tuesday last, was buried to day; he had held the situation of Crier many years. Saturday, 23d,—The fishing Vessels belonging to this Town have now all arrived, having all made successful fares. They consisted of the follow- ing; "Water Witch", owned by E. & W. Zwicker, & Jas. Hunt "Brilliant", " " Lewis Anderson "Ocean Wave", " " do. do. "Camilla", " " Edwd. Young "H. M. Moyle", " " do. do. "Baronett", " " Jas. & Jas. Young "Hiram", " " Lewis Hertle. "Leading Star" " " Lewis Oxner "Union", " " Conrod Lord, & Peter Gorkum "Dart", " " Josh. Rudolf "Planet", " " Lewis Hertle "Emerald", " " Wm. & Jas. Burn "Volant", " " Geo. Acker, & Jacob Smith. Wednesd. 27th,—To day the St. Johns Church Sunday School pic-nic took place at the Battery point. 112 of the Scholars mustered on the Church Square at 12 O'clock, noon, and marched with flags flying to the above place where they enjoyed themselves during the afternoon; at 5 O'clock they partook of supper, at half past 6 O'clock they were again called together, and after singing a hymn and hearing an address from the Revd. Mr. Owen they were marched to town and dismissed. A large number of parents and others were present. September, 1856 Monday, 1st,—To day I commenced painting three Tablets for the Church, one to contain the Lords p'rayer, another for the Creed (Apostles), and the next to contain the decalogue or Ten Commandments; which are intended as a gift to the Church. Thursday, 4th,—A regatta came off at Chester, the first of the kind that has been attempted in this County. A number of Boats were entered,
